Liila Hass
Liila has been teaching yoga and meditation for more than 35 years. Trained in India and the Americas, Liila has delivered classes, retreats and workshops in several corners of the globe. Her interests include yoga psychology, yoga therapy, the link between yoga and health, and making spiritual practice accessible for all. She is a registered Yoga Teacher Trainer ERYT 1500 – Senior Level 6 with Yoga Alliance International and wrote a Master’s degree thesis on “Yoga Therapy for Anxiety”. When available, she leads tours to India that include visits to some of the planet's most inspiring spiritual hotspots (see onenessworldtravel.com).
Rob Blakers
Rob has been practicing yoga and meditation since the early 1980s. He trained with yogic monks in the 1980s and has taught yoga and meditation in Hobart on and off since that time. Through his work as a landscape and wildlife photographer, he has found that meditation can enhance our connection with the natural world and sharpen our purpose for its protection. Conversely, being in wild nature is a sublime foundation for spiritual practice. Rob is the owner of Wild Island Gallery in Salamanca and a dedicated advocate for wild places.
Kaelasha Tyler
Kaelasha spent a number of years as a junior monk, practicing and teaching Tantra Yoga with Ananda Marga. He then completed a PhD in Neuroscience, researching consciousness and unconscious processes, motivated by a fascination with the intersecting insights of cognitive neuroscience and the contemplative traditions. He continues to be excited by the exploration of the spiritual basis for self and society.
Marjolein Thijsijna Akkerman
Marjorlein is a certified 5Rhythms teacher and has been on her dancing and art journey for more than 30 years. She has always been fascinated by the body and its movement. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2002 at the Gerrit Rietveld Académie in the Netherlands and has participated in several exhibitions and organised art workshops.
Didi Ananda Nirmala
Didi is a yogic nun originally from New Zealand. She has worked in Europe and throughout Australasia, teaching yoga, meditation and strategies for self-development. She has also worked in several schools promoting holistic, Neo-Humanist education.
Didi has a strong interest and background in Indigenous cultures. She originally studied Maori Development at Massey University in New Zealand, before furthering her education in Aboriginal Culture and Traditions at Notre Dame University in Broome, WA. She then ran an indigenous healing centre in Derby, WA, for at-risk youth, using trauma therapy and intuitional & multi-cultural healing traditions. She currently resides in Gympie, QLD, where she coordinates a multipurpose yoga training centre for women.
Helen Kwiecien
Helen began practicing yoga as a 12-year-old in the United Kingdom and continued throughout her teen years. Her interest deepened when living in Melbourne in 2015 during classes with Kathy Peterson that incorporated pranayama and yin yoga. In 2020, Helen moved to Tasmania and continued her yoga journey, completing a 200-hour teacher training and founding Bee Breath Yoga during 2021, and running her first retreat in 2024.
Helen is also a co-founder of Sea Hags Tasmania, a diverse group of fierce women who push themselves beyond their comfort zones by braving the ocean all year round. Helen will be guiding our optional morning “cold water emersion” sessions and sharing her techniques to get the most out of a Tasmanian ocean swim. She will also be leading a somatic breath session during the retreat.
Note: This is a three-day retreat. You will be offered nine gorgeous and highly nutritious gourmet vegan meals, five high-calibre yoga classes, a number of innovative, interactive workshops (including the Kosas—the “Layers of Mind”, Social Change & Society, mindful crafting, 5Rhythms dance, somatic practice, and a southeast Asian vegan cooking class), fun cultural programmes, optional dawn meditation/cold water immersion, and more!
