Your Hosts

Liila Hass

Liila has been teaching yoga and meditation for more than 35 years. Trained in India and the Americas, Liila has delivered classes, retreats and workshops in several corners of the globe. Her interests include yoga psychology, yoga therapy, the link between yoga and health, and making spiritual practice accessible for all. She is a registered Yoga Teacher Trainer ERYT 1500 – Senior Level 6 with Yoga Alliance International and wrote a Master’s degree research thesis on “Yoga Therapy for Anxiety”. When available, she leads tours to India that include visits to some of the planet's most inspiring spiritual hotspots (see onenessworldtravel.com).

Rob Blakers

Rob has been practicing yoga and meditation since the early 1980s. He trained with yogic monks in the 1980s and has taught yoga and meditation in Hobart on and off since that time. Through his work as a landscape and wildlife photographer, he has found that meditation can enhance our connection with the natural world and sharpen our purpose for its protection. Conversely, being in wild nature is a sublime foundation for spiritual practice. Rob is the owner of Wild Island Gallery in Salamanca and a dedicated advocate for wild places.

Kaelasha Tyler

Kaelasha spent a number of years as a junior monk, practising and teaching Tantra Yoga with Ananda Marga. He then completed a PhD in Neuroscience, researching consciousness and unconscious processes, driven by a fascination with the intersection of cognitive neuroscience and contemplative traditions. His journey continues to be guided by a deep curiosity about the nature of consciousness and the spiritual foundations of self and society, which he remains passionate about exploring and sharing with others.

Marjolein Thijsijna Akkerman

Marjorlein is a certified 5Rhythms teacher and has been on her dancing and art journey for more than 30 years. She has always been fascinated by the body and its movement. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2002 at the Gerrit Rietveld Académie in the Netherlands and has participated in several exhibitions and organised art workshops.

Didi Ananda Nirmala

Didi is a yogic nun originally from New Zealand, with experience teaching yoga, meditation and self-development across Europe and Australasia. She has also worked in schools promoting holistic, Neo-Humanist education.

With a strong interest in Indigenous cultures, Didi studied Māori Development at Massey University before furthering her studies in Aboriginal Culture and Traditions at Notre Dame University in Broome, WA. She later ran an Indigenous healing centre in Derby, supporting at-risk youth through trauma therapy and multicultural healing traditions. Didi now lives in Gympie, QLD, where she coordinates a multipurpose yoga training centre for women.

Dada Marmadevananada

Dada first began practicing meditation at the age of 13. He attended his initial training in his early 20s and was ordained as a yogic monk at the age of 23. He has worked in Australasia, Europe, the US, Central America, Far East Asia, Southeast Asia, and throughout India.

Since 2013, Dada’s primary responsibility, alongside his duties as a yogic monk, have been as a disaster relief coordinator for the international relief agency AMURT, covering flood and cyclone relief in India, covid relief in Odisha, child protection projects in Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh, earthquake relief in Turkey and Morocco and humanitarian responses in Ukraine. He is currently based in Nepal, supporting flood relief efforts.

Helen Kwiecien

Helen began practising yoga at age 12 in the UK, deepening her practice in Melbourne through pranayama and yin yoga. After moving to Tasmania in 2020, she completed her 200-hour teacher training, founded Bee Breath Yoga in 2021, and hosted her first retreat in 2024.

Helen is also co-founder of Sea Hags Tasmania, a diverse group of fierce women who brave the ocean year-round, pushing beyond their comfort zones. She’ll guide our optional morning cold-water immersion sessions, sharing techniques to get the most out of a Tasmanian ocean swim.

Note: This is a three-day retreat. You will be offered nine gorgeous and highly nutritious gourmet vegan meals, five high-calibre yoga classes, a number of innovative, interactive workshops (including exploring intentional communities, 5Rhythms dance, disaster relief preparedness, Indian vegan cooking classes, declaration for the rights of animals and plants, etc.), fun cultural programmes, optional dawn meditation, elective cold water immersion, and more!
